Today's Devotion:
"God Came THIS WAY?"
Two young boys were talking about Christmas.
One said, "NO! The name of the King of
Israel is BORN!
Don't you remember the song we sang in
church, "BORN, the King of Israel?"
_______SCRIPTURE____________
Is. 53:1-3
Who hath believed our report? and to whom is the
arm of the LORD revealed?
2 For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant,
and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor
comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no
beauty that we should desire him.
3 He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows,
and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces
from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.
KJV
_______THOUGHT______________
Usually, men think of a king as one dressed in royal
robes.
Who would ever believe that the conquering Creator
would come as a child and would grow as a "tender
plant" - a "root from dry ground?"
Isaiah describes Messiah as being born in human form.
He also describes Messiah as being UNcomely, or
not attractive.
In Isaiah 53, we find a picture of Messiah quite different
from what the world would expect.
REALLY?
Would the Creator God be "despised and rejected?"
Would He be "a man of sorrows, and acquainted with
grief?"
Yet, in the story of Lazarus dying (John 11), the Lord
Jesus is described as One Who felt DEEP sorrow.
The shortest verse in the Bible, "Jesus wept" shows
that Jesus had great sorrow for what sin does to
people.
Sin brings DEATH! (Rom. 6:23)
But Jesus came to CONQUER death!
He came to conquer what defiles man - SIN!
This Christmas, remember that Jesus was not what
the world expected.
He was God in flesh, God INCARNATE!
And He came to DELIVER us from the penalty
of sin - DEATH!!
Love ya!
