THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS

DAILY DEVOTIONS

HI!

Once, someone asked a very rich man:
“How much money is enough?”

The rich man answered:
”ONE more dollar!”

Hag 1:4-7
4 Is it time for you, O ye, to dwell in your cieled houses, and this house lie waste?
5 Now therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts; Consider your ways.
6 Ye have sown much, and bring in little; ye eat, but ye have not enough;
ye drink, but ye are not filled with drink; ye clothe you, but there is none warm;
and he that earneth wages earneth wages to put it into a bag with holes.
7 Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Consider your ways.

THOUGHT____________________________________

I was reading the above in my daily Bible reading and thought:
“the Bible is always perfectly pertinent for THIS day and age.”

About 536 BC, the people of Jerusalem had begun to rebuild the temple
after the Babylonians had destroyed it in 586 BC.

But their focus changed!
They turned away from building their spiritual lives to building their physical lives!
They became more concerned with physical prosperity than spiritual posterity!
And, God was NOT blessing their lives!

Is this not appropriate for America today?

During the Constitutional Convention (1787), the members were having problems.
Benjamin Franklin arose to address the President of the Convention.
Among many other statements, he said,<>br> ”I have lived, Sir, a long time, and the longer I live, the more convincing proofs I see of this truth-
that God Governs in the affairs of men. And if a sparrow cannot fall to the ground without his notice,
is it probable that an empire can rise without His aid?”

My question is: “Can an empire continue without His aid?”
Should we not change our focus again?
Shall we not focus more on spiritual posterity than physical prosperity?

One more prayer to be made.
One more soul to be brought to Christ.
One more church to be built.

THEN.....THEN.... it will be ENOUGH!

Love ya!
