THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS
(Thanks for the joke Willa!)
The family gave grandmother a birthday party.
Five-year-old Johnny asked his grandmother, “How old are you?”
She said, “Thirty-nine and holding, son.”
He asked, “How old would you be if you ‘let go’?”
2 Peter 3:18
But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.
A Christian, growing in “the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ,” will also grow in “grace.”
Grace is exemplified in character.
To know Christ, and to grow in knowing Him better, produces humility.
Prov 15:33 says, “The fear of the LORD is the instruction of wisdom; and before honour is humility.”
Another character trait, produced by knowing Jesus, is happiness.
Ps 146:5 says, “Happy is he that hath the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in the LORD his God:”
Another result of knowing Jesus is holiness.
Holiness is a state of being.
It is living in a righteous manner because we live FOR our Lord.
That means we live with Him at the center of our lives.
And, we are willing to do as He directs.
Ps 110:3 says, “Thy people shall be willing in the day of thy power, in the beauties of holiness from the womb of the morning: thou hast the dew of thy youth.”
How old would you be if you “let go, and let GOD!”
