THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS
As an evangelist, I like to find out how well people know their pastor.
Sometimes, I’ll ask a member, “What color are your pastor’s eyes?”
One member said, “Well, I really can’t tell ya. When he prays, he closes his eyes.
And, when he preaches, I close mine.”
1 Tim 3:14-15
14 These things write I unto thee, hoping to come unto thee shortly:
15 But if I tarry long, that thou mayest know how thou oughtest to behave thyself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth.
Jesus Christ Himself is “the Pillar and Ground of the truth.”
The “church of the Living God,” is to present that truth to the world.
The church is the “house of God,” or congregation.
The members are those who have openly confessed faith and trust in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.
Jesus is the foundation of our faith.
He is the fountain from which flows the strength of our faith.
The main function of the church, then, is to present Christ to the world.
We are, under God’s authority and plan, directed to show the world:
WHO Jesus is, and
WHY Jesus came.
The only manner in which we can perform that function is to STUDY and LEARN the WORD of God,
which is the “revelation of Jesus Christ.” (Gal. 1:12, 1Pet. 1:13, Rev. 1:1)
Now, then....THAT’S how we should “behave” in the church!
STUDY the WORD!
