THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS
Can’t remember just how old I was...9 maybe 10.
Dad took me squirrel hunting about 30 miles away from our home.
These were unfamiliar woods.
He led me down an old log road, then down a small path.
He told me to sit down and watch for squirrels.
When I got ready to leave, just follow the path to the log road, and then to the car.
He said, “And, if you feel lost, just call out my name. I’ll be there.”
Of course, with kids that age, time is totally irrelevant.
I killed two squirrels, and figured that it had been quite a lot of time.
So, I headed down the path.
Hmmm....seems I had passed this spot before.
I began to get worried.
So, I called out Dad’s name, “BURT!?”
So I YELLED, “BURT!”
He stepped out from behind a tree, and said, “I’m right here.”
It sure was comforting to know he was CLOSE!
Surely the righteous shall give thanks unto thy name:
the upright shall dwell in thy presence.
Light from the Word.
Christians, how often do we think about the fact that Jesus is WITH us?
His “Presence” is with us at ALL times!
Is it our desire to “dwell” in His presence?
If we live in the assurance of His presence, we will “give thanks” to Him!
We will be constantly praising Him for always being WITH us!
Remember, the next time you:
face difficulty, face temptation, feel sorrow,
He is CLOSE!
He is as close as calling out His Name!
We should also remember His presence in our joys and happiness.
Because, sometimes we allow them to suffocate His closeness!
May we live this day, aware of His wonderful PRESENCE!
And, may His presence keep us “upright!”
