THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS

DAILY DEVOTIONS

HI!

I remember several times in my life entering a conversation with someone I didn't know.
Sometimes, they would say, "OH! You're a McGee. Are you kin to....."

And, sometimes, I was related to the person they asked about.

But sometimes I wasn't. On those times, I would make a little joke.
I'd say, "Oh, well. That person's name is spelled differently (ie. McGehee, McGhee, or Magee)."

Then I would say, "Actually, there's only one correct spelling, that is McGee! You see, some of the folk were chicken thieves, some horse thieves, and some thieves -- so, they had to change the spelling."

Of course, that usually brought a laugh, which was my intention.

But one time, a person named "McGhee," was listening to the conversation.
He kinda scowled and said, "MY name is spelled MCGHEE, thank you!"

Then the joke was on me.

Gal 3:26-28
26 For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.
27 For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.
28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female:
for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.

THOUGHT____________________________________

There is only one way to spell "children of God by faith in Christ Jesus."
That is: CHRISTIANS!

No matter who you are in the world (vs 28 above), if you have surrendered to Jesus as Lord, then you are "baptized into Christ."
And those who are, wear a different set of spiritual clothing than others because they have "put on Christ."

Christians are justified by Christ's blood (Rom. 5:9).
And, they are given the righteousness of Christ (2Cor. 5:21).
They are sanctified, and set aside for use by His Spirit's presence (Eph. 1:13).
They are further sanctified by the WORD of God (John 17:17).

And Christians are placed into the "body," or FAMILY, of Jesus Christ (Rom. 12:4-5).

Now aren't you glad you have a FAMILY NAME by which you can be called that is unsoiled, unspotted, and perfect before God?

As Christians, we all have different views - because we're all different.
And, the view of one "abomination" (denomination) is not necessarily better than another.

Attend church where you are comfortable.
But "put on Christ" and EVANGELIZE THE LOST!
Exhibit the characteristics of "Christian!"

Don't let your individual view put the joke on you!

Love ya!
