THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS
Once a little boy asked his father, “What is a Christian.”
The father began to explain all the traits and characteristics of a Christian.
The little boy looked up in innocence and asked, “Dad, have I ever SEEN a Christian?”
1 John 2:6
He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.
Here are three good reasons Christians should pattern their lives after Christ.
First, for personal reasons.
Staying away from sin’s temptations keeps us from suffering the earthly consequences.
Being empowered by His Holy Spirit produces the most joy in life.
There is no satisfaction like knowing one has lived this day for His glory.
Matt 5:6 says, “Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.”
Second, for your neighbor’s sake.
Christians are most often shot at from the lip by gossips.
And, nothing gives them more ammunition than being less than we should be.
“...Provide things honest in the sight of all men.” (Rom 12:17)
If we would win others to Christ, we must demonstrate Him Whom we praise in our life.
Third, and most importantly, for Jesus’ sake!
If we truly love our Lord, we should exhibit that love in all speech and livelihood.
How many times do we betray Jesus, like Judas, when we do wrong in the sight of others?
How often do we deny His Lordship, like Peter, when we speak hastily?
How often do we fail Him because we do not properly study and learn His Word.
Jesus said, “If ye love me, keep my commandments.” (John 14:15)
Remember, you preach WHO you are by HOW you are!
