THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS
Inventiveness sometimes is a necessity.
The door bell rang, and Jim answered.
He came back in the living room, and said,
“Dad, there's someone at the door collecting for a new swimming pool.”
Dad, paused a moment, and put down his paper long enough to say,
“Give him a glass of water.”
1 And again he entered into Capernaum, after some days; and it was noised that he was in the house.
2 And straightway many were gathered together, insomuch that there was no room to receive them, no,
not so much as about the door: and he preached the word unto them.
3 And they come unto him, bringing one sick of the palsy, which was borne of four.
4 And when they could not come nigh unto him for the press, they uncovered the roof where he was:
and when they had broken it up, they let down the bed wherein the sick of the palsy lay.
It has been said that “necessity is the mother of invention.”
These men considered it a necessity to get their friend to Jesus.
Yet the door was blocked with a great crowd.
The house was PACKED.
But the realness of Jesus brought out the inventiveness of these believers!
They literally took the roof off the house to allow their friend to “drop in”!!
True faith begets inventiveness!
These men didn't ask if their friend would believe Jesus.
Neither did they balk at the fact he might reject Jesus.
They just brought their friend, and let HIM decide!
If we genuinely believe Jesus;
If we truly believe people need Jesus;
Then let us be inventive enough to introduce our friends to Jesus!
Let them believe and receive, or let them reject.
But, at least find a way to introduce them to Jesus so they can make a decision.
