THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS

DAILY DEVOTIONS

HI!

One day, in Bible study, the teacher asked, "What is your favorite Scripture?"

An elderly lady answered quickly, "My favorite Scripture is, '. . and it came to pass. ..'"

The teacher asked why she chose this particular Scripture.

She said, "Because it does not say, '. . . it came to stay....'"

Psalm 142
5 I cried unto thee, O LORD: I said, Thou art my refuge and my portion in the land of the living.
6 Attend unto my cry; for I am brought very low: deliver me from my persecutors; for they are stronger than I.
7 Bring my soul out of prison, that I may praise thy name: the righteous shall compass me about; for thou shalt deal bountifully with me.

Sometimes life becomes very difficult.
Like Job, we may not understand WHY.
But we can KNOW that God KNOWS and will listen!

God is our REFUGE in this troubled world. He will listen and help.
God is our PORTION, or allotment, in this world.
Let us realize that He is ALL we have!
Even life itself is wrapped up in God, our Creator and Savior.
That makes everything else in our life interconnect with Him.

The enemy of sin is very strong in this world. It is our constant persecutor!
Call on your "refuge" and "portion" to HELP!

God knows how to
"deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished:" (2 Peter 2:9).

God knows how to deliver us out of this "prison" of sin.
He knows how to encompass us with "the righteous."
And God, in grace, will always "deal bountifully" with us.

Therefore, "let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name." (Heb 13:15)

Remember, the difficulties of life "came to pass."
But God came "to STAY!"

Love ya!
