The farmer's son went off to college,
pursuing an education in agriculture.
When he returned with his degree, he tried to give his
father some advice on farming.
The farmer said, "Son, don't try to give me advice.
I don't farm half as well as I know how to now!"
In the morning sow thy seed, and in the evening withhold
not thine hand: for thou knowest not whether shall prosper,
either this or that, or whether they both shall be alike good.
LIGHT from the WORD.
God's instruction Book, the Bible, tells Christians two important things.
First, it says TO "win souls"
Second, the Bible tells us HOW to win souls.
We are to preach the gospel!
"for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one
that believeth" (Rom 1:16).
Our text is good instruction for farmers.
Start early and work late!
"In the morning sow thy seed,
and in the evening withhold not thine hand."
This instruction is also good for Christians.
Start early in your life telling others of Christ.
And when you are in the "evening" of life, do not slack up!
We cannot be so bashful and shy as to not proclaim our
Great King of salvation!
Perhaps, as we get older, we cannot travel as we could
when we were younger.
But we can use the phone.
We can write cards.
We can hand out leaflets when we do travel.
The work is important!
Souls are dying in sin and headed for an eternal death.
In the morning sow thy seed,
and in the evening withhold not thine hand.
