THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS

DAILY DEVOTIONS

HI!

Sin never looked so ugly as when my dad held a belt and told me
to lie down on the bed.....
UNTIL I read the Bible!

Eph 2:1-7
1 And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses
and sins;
2 Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of
this world, according to the prince of the power of the air,
the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:
3 Among whom also we all had our conversation in times
past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh
and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath,
even as others.
4 But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith
he loved us,
5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together
with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)
6 And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in
heavenly places in Christ Jesus:
7 That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches
of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.

Light from the Word.

In GRACE God called to us, even in our sin.
We were "DEAD" to God in our "trespasses and sin!"

Sin took on new meaning, when as a child of 12, I read that 1st verse!!
DEAD! Dead to God!

YET, He CALLED to us through Christ by GRACE!
In MERCY God dealt with us, granting forgiveness.
And, all this BECAUSE of His "great love wherewith He loved us!"

Yet, even today, many who are called Christians are
insensitive to God's Holy Spirit, and
willingly ignorant of His Holy Word!

Even when facing the cross, Christ KNEW!
He knew we would be faithless, weak-spirited, indifferent, calloused,
lax in prayer and Bible study.

But Jesus went to that cross ANYWAY!

THAT makes sin look UGLY!

There are REASONS for this Divine love which extends mercy through grace:
1) That we be "quickened" - made ALIVE to Him;
2) That we exhibit proof of His mercy, love and grace in our lives;
3) And, that we encourage others to receive Christ!

How about it Christian?
Are you ALIVE and sensitive to His Holy Spirit?
Are you exhibiting proof of His salvation in your life?
Are you sharing the Gospel with others?

RENEW your commitment to Him in humble prayer.
He will renew the quickening power of His Holy Spirit in you!

Love ya!
