THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS

DAILY DEVOTIONS

HI!

When I was working for Safeway Stores, Inc.,
our children were young.
Once we lived in Greenwood, Miss.
But we would travel to West Monroe, LA on some
weekends so we could visit with family and friends.

The children were mostly playing in the back seat, and
sometimes it got pretty loud.

We had to cross the Mississippi bridge in Greenville, Miss.
Each time we came to the bridge, I would yell out:
"HOPE THE BRIDGE DON'T FALL!"

Both children would cover their ears, close their eyes,
and wait anxiously for us to get to the other side.
And, for a few moments, it was really QUIET in the car!

LIGHT from the WORD.

Let's talk about FAITH.
Where does it come from, and what does it do?

Faith is a GIFT, given by grace, from God to those who surrender
to Christ as Lord.

Faith has SUBSTANCE!
What do we HOPE FOR in Christ?
We hope to see our Lord in heaven;
to be everlastingly happy there;
to live there completely devoid of sin;
and, to have the joy of full fellowship with Jesus.

Faith, then, is the FOUNDATION for those hopes.
It gives SUBSTANCE so that we can "walk by faith"(See 2Cor. 5:7)

Faith is EVIDENCE!

Faith produces the proof in our lives that we are sinful beings.
Then, faith produces proof that through surrender to Christ,
we are both forgiven and granted eternal life.

And, faith provides evidence to others (through our daily living) that
we are firmly founded upon the love of God through Christ Jesus.

Like that ole Mississippi bridge, faith is both SUBSTANCE and
EVIDENCE.
It is founded upon the ROCK of Christ Jesus, and
it WORKS THROUGH us to bring us safely on our journey.

Love ya!
