A young man, wanting to show his wisdom, asked an older man, "A bird is in my hand. Is it alive or dead."
The older man realized that if he said, "Dead" the young man would release the bird, and he would fly away.
However, if he said, "Alive" the young man would crush the bird in his hands.
So he said, "My son, it lies in YOUR hands."

Light from the Word.
Part of Paul's prayer for the church at Colossae was that they would be
"filled with the knowledge of His (God's) will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding."
This might have been part of your dad's or mom's prayer for you!
This might be your pastor's prayer for you today!
Salvation comes solely by grace upon your repentance and surrender to Christ.
But the knowledge of His will, and wisdom and spiritual understanding in that will, comes from
YOU interacting with God's WORD!
God has completed His part: He has provided the Word.
You must complete YOUR part: studying the Word.
The valuable "knowledge of His will" and the "wisdom and spiritual understanding"
to DO His will
LIES IN YOUR HANDS!
Do your utmost for His uppermost!
