THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS

DAILY DEVOTIONS

HI!

Thibedeaux and Boudreaux were brothers from South Louisiana.
They went to see if they could join the Air Force.

Thibedeaux went into the interview room first.
When they asked him what he did, he told them he was a "pilot."
They told him he could certainly have a job in the Air Force and signed him up.

Boudreaux went into the interview room second.
When they asked him what he did, he told them he was a wood cutter.
They told him he couldn't have a job in the Air Force because they had no use for a wood cutter.

Boudreaux asked, "Why you take mah brudder den?"
Interviewer, "Because he's a pilot."
Boudreaux said, "Well he can't pile it until I cut it!"

Christ is the "Head" over ALL the church (Col. 1:18).
He reigns "unto the ends of the earth" because the church is spread over all the earth.

Christians "abide" under His supremacy because of endearing love they have toward Christ.
He rules in tender lovingkindness and His "sheep" follow Him wherever He leads.

Christ rules "in the majesty of the name of the LORD."
It was His voice that said, "Let there be light" (Gen. 1:3).
It was His voice that said, "I am the Lord; and beside me there is no Savior" (Is. 43:11).
He is the same One Who said, "Before Abraham was, I am" (John 8:58).

And, besides His love (exemplified in the cross), there are three very practical reasons why Christians follow Him today.

First, He "feed(s)" us!
The Hebrew word is "ra'ah," which means to tend, pasture, and to keep company with.
His Presence is constantly with us, and through that presence, He provides our every mental, emotional, physical and spiritual need.

Second, His reign is eternal.
The statement is in perfect present tense: "shall stand and feed."
He is not sometimes there.
He is always there!
And He forever will be there!

And third, Jesus feeds "in the strength of the LORD."
His feeding and caring of us is by the power of His Holy Spirit.
His Holy Spirit is the same power that raised Him from the dead!
And He allows that power to reside in His people today!

Jesus does not give us revival one day and leave us empty the next!
His power is always the same, and always available!

Oh, LORD! Help us to avail ourselves of Your love and Your power to REVIVE us today!

Love ya!
