Today's Devotion:
"JOIN Yourself To The BIBLE"
To the corruptions of christianity I am indeed
opposed; but not to the genuine precepts of
Jesus himself. I am a Christian in the only
sense in which He wished any one to be;
sincerely attached to His doctrines, in
preference to all others; ascribing to Himself
every human excellence, and believing He
never claimed any other.
(Thomas Jefferson)
_______SCRIPTURE____________
Ps. 39:6-7
6 Surely every man walketh in a vain shew:
surely they are disquieted in vain: he heapeth
up riches, and knoweth not who shall gather
them.
7 And now, Lord, what wait I for? my hope is
in thee.
KJV
_______THOUGHT______________
When we look at the world, we see the
darkness of sin, corruption, in the efforts of
man to make himself something.
But when we turn to God and His Word, we
are given "light" (understanding) concerning
Who God IS and what He WANTS from man.
George Washington said about the bible:
it is "impossible to rightly govern the world
without the Bible."
John Locke said the Bible has "God as its
Author, salvation for its end."
Billy Graham said, "If you are ignorant of
God's Word, you will always be ignorant of
His will."
The Psalmist looked at the world of people
and saw that man is "vain;" always seeking
to promote self.
Then, the Psalmist turned to God: "And now,
Lord, what WAIT I for? my hope is in Thee!"
The word for "wait" there is the Hebrew
qavah (Kaw-vaw').
It means to be JOINED to, twisted together
like strands of a rope.
Shall we join ourselves to the world, or
to God Who gives us true understanding
in the Bible?
Love ya!
