THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS

DAILY DEVOTIONS

HI!

The president of the club gave a very flowery and flattering introduction to the speaker who was a pastor.
The pastor stood to take the podium, and said, "May the Lord forgive this man his excesses, and me for enjoying them so much!"

There are two great opposites in our world:
God's Holy Spirit, Who tries to turn us away from self to Jesus;
And the devil who tries to turn us away from Jesus to self.

The devil doesn't care if people don't worship him, as long as they don't worship Jesus.
He's constantly telling the world that Christianity is: silly, weakness, frailty, foolishness, etc.
And he's constantly telling Christians: you're too weak, you have no faith, you have no joy, you're not repentant enough, etc.

All those thoughts are about self, and turn the person to look within for strength.
But God's Holy Spirit is constantly whispering we are nothing without Christ, and we must turn simply and fully to Him.

Remember, it is not your strength, your joy, or even your faith that saves you - it is CHRIST!
Faith is a gift from God that HELPS us hold onto Jesus; but it is "by GRACE" that we are saved.
It is not how strongly you hold onto Him, but simply your surrender to Him.

It is Jesus Who is the "Author and Finisher of our faith!"

We don't find full satisfaction in our prayers, study, singing, testimony or ministry, though we find some.
We find full satisfaction in our LORD!!
To know satisfaction in life, we are simply and fully to be "Looking unto JESUS!"
Let His sufferings, death, resurrection, ascension and soon return be your hope and joy.

Stay looking TOWARD Him!
Stay surrendered TO Him!
And "He which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:" (Phil 1:6).

Love ya,
Bruce
