Bob and Bill were ice fishing side by side.
Bill was catching fish, Bob wasn't.
Bob asked Bill how he was doing that.
Bill just mumbled something.
So Bob asked him again, and Bill just mumbled something.
Frustrated, Bob told him to talk plain, and tell him how he
was catching those fish.
So Bill leaned over, took something out of his mouth and said,
"Ya gotta keep the worms warm!"
24 And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh
with the affections and lusts.
25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.
26 Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another,
envying one another.
LIGHT from the WORD.
One of the most beautiful portrayals of love in the Bible
was when Mary broke her special little box and poured
the ointment over Jesus' feet.
Then she wiped his feet with her hair (See John 12:3).
Some of Jesus' own disciples criticized this action;
but Jesus said to let her alone.
You see, Mary's FOCUS was on serving CHRIST!
As genuine disciples of Christ, we are to focus our attention
upon Him and our service for His sake!
When we begin to make comparisons between ourselves
and others, we lose the focus of our purpose!
Our service to God is pleasing when we serve Him by
serving others, no matter WHO they are!
Each of us has different gifts, and differ in our service to
It's not our place to criticize, or even hold critical feelings
toward, another servant of Christ!
The Greek word for "judgest in James 4:12 above
is krino, and means to call in question, or condemn.
Christ Himself is the "Judge" of our service!
We cannot be praising our Master when we are
criticizing His people!
Paul says (in our Scripture text for today) that we should
"walk" in the "Spirit!"
The context there means to put one foot in front of the
other, with our FOCUS on serving CHRIST!
Let us not waste our valuable God-given time in envy,
jealousy or petty comparative analysis.
It's not our job to evaluate others!
Focus on serving others in love!
THAT will be pleasing to our Master!
Keep the WORDS warm!
And speak them clearly in servantship!
