THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS
After preaching revival in a small church, I asked a young deacon:
“Do you believe in election?”
He said, “Yes sir. The Lord is voting for me, the devil is voting against me;
and whichever way I cast my ballot, that’s the way the election goes!”
8 For if Jesus had given them rest, then would he not afterward have spoken of another day.
9 There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God.
10 For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his.
11 Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.
When our Lord brings us to heaven we will know “rest.”
There we shall never know fatigue again.
We shall cease “from our own works,” and praise our Lord eternally.
That rest “remaineth.”
It is there for us in the future.
However, that “rest” is for “another day!”
TODAY, the exhibition of our faith is “labour” in and for Christ.
Our “works” are to show our love and devotion to Jesus.
Let us not “fall” with an “example of unbelief.”
Let us be LABORING for Christ!
Pray – seeking God’s will, and in intercession for others.
Study – the Bible to know more about our Lord and His will for our lives.
Fellowship – with other believers, encouraging them in the work.
Minister – to those in need.
Witness – to those who do not know Christ.
There is a day coming, Christian, when we shall receive “rest” eternal!
But, TODAY, let us not “be weary in well doing.” (2Thessalonians 3:13)
