THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS

DAILY DEVOTIONS

HI!

Olympic gold medalist (1976 & 1984) Darrel Pace gave an archery exhibition in New York City's Central Park.
That event received coverage by all the news stations.

Shooting steel-tipped arrows, Pace punctured bull's-eyes without a miss.

Then he called for a volunteer. "All you have to do," said Pace, "Is hold this apple in your hand, waist-high."
ABC correspondent Josh Howell took a bold step forward.

He stood there, a small apple in his hand, a larger one in his throat.
Pace took aim from 30 yards away as everyone held their breath.
Then THWACK-a clean hit that exploded the apple before striking the target behind.

Everybody applauded Howell, who was all smiles--until his cameraman approached with a hangdog look.
"I'm sorry, Josh," he said. "I didn't get it. Had a problem with my viewfinder. Could you do it again?"

That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire,
might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:

It’s a good thing I wasn’t holding that apple for Darrell Pace!
My hand would have been shaking so, he’d probably have MISSED!

We are saved BY grace, and THROUGH faith.

Grace calls us to the Savior, convicts us of sin, convinces us Christ is the only answer; then calls for a commitment to Him.
When we make that commitment, we are given faith.
Faith is the ability to cling to the Lord in ALL circumstances.

Faith, when tested, ALWAYS prevails!
THEN, it becomes STRONGER!

Heb 11:1 says, “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”

A fire was consuming a suburban home.
Mom, Dad, and little sister got out; but a son was trapped in the second floor.
Smoke was boiling around the house.
Dad could see his son at the window.
He called, “JUMP son, I’ll CATCH you!”
The boy said, “But Dad, I can’t SEE you. There’s too much smoke.”
Dad said, “But I can see you – JUMP!”
He jumped and Dad caught him in loving arms.

The next time you are faced with a “trial” -
take a LEAP OF FAITH to Christ!
He’s ALWAYS there!

Love ya!
