Great lessons learned from growing up:
No matter how hard you try, you can't baptize cats.
When your mom is mad at your dad,
don't let her brush your hair.
If your sister hits you, don't hit her back;
They always catch the second person.
Never ask your 3-year old brother to hold a tomato.
You can't trust dogs to watch your food.
Reading what people write on desks can teach you a lot.
Don't sneeze when someone is cutting your hair.
1 Tim 6:6-8
6 But godliness with contentment is great gain.
7 For we brought nothing into this world,
and it is certain we can carry nothing out.
8 And having food and raiment let us be therewith content.
LIGHT from the WORD.
Job said, "And said, Naked came I out of my mother's womb,
and naked shall I return thither: the LORD gave, and the LORD
hath taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD." (Job 1:21)
Knowing the former, how can we learn to be CONTENT?
First, we must learn that God is IN CONTROL!
Our beginning, our ending, and all in between is
controlled by Him!
We can only make who we are and what we are BETTER
by trusting and following CHRIST!
We spend far too much time being concerned with tomorrow,
when today is all we are given!
Real contentment is not found in pride of self:
getting better, smarter, stronger, faster.
Real contentment is found in being, and
being what God wants us to be TODAY!
Contentment must be coupled with godliness!
Because, "..godliness with contentment is great gain!"
LEARN these things as you grow up IN Christ,
and INTO Christ:
1) Be content with praying and knowing His presence;
2) Be content with learning from His WORD;
3) Be content with growing into Christlikeness;
4) And, be content with SHARING Jesus with others!
When we are content IN Christ,
the world's troubles are still there;
but they are LESS WORRISOME!
