THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS
The Tennessee preacher was in Texas, preaching a revival.
One morning the Texas pastor took the visiting preacher fishing.
Now they had fished for about 2 hours, and had caught nothing.
Then the visiting preacher from Tennessee caught a bass that weighed about 8 pounds.
The Texas pastor said, "We use those for bait around here."
The Tennessee pastor nodded and released the bass back into the lake!
Verily I say unto you, Among them that are born of women there hath not risen a greater than John the Baptist:
notwithstanding he that is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he.
John the Baptist was a greater prophet than all those before him.
All those before John preached of a Messiah to come.
Adam, Moses, Abraham, Jacob, David, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, and a host of other prophets had preached of Messiah to come.
John not only saw the Messiah, but also baptized him.
But the fullness of the "kingdom of heaven" was not yet complete.
Jesus had not yet been crucified, risen and ascended.
All the prophets before John preached of Messiah coming, and John preached of Messiah present.
But all those afterward could preach of Messiah Who had not only come, but given Himself for men.
They could also preach repentance and remission of sins can be found by surrender to Him as Lord.
You, my Christian friend, even as a new "babe" in Christ, have a greater prophecy than John the Baptist!
And you have a greater testimony to share with others.
You are bought by the blood.
You are sealed in the Spirit.
You are sanctified in Christ Himself.
You are fully justified by Christ.
You can testify of Christ crucified, buried, risen, ascended and SOON COMING again!
And you have a promise to be fully glorified, not by the "blood of bulls and goats," but by the blood of CHRIST!
And, perhaps most important of all, you have the PRESENCE of Christ promised with you ALWAYS!
He is there in your sorrows to bring comfort from grief.
He is there in your persecution to assure that the "bruised reed" is not broken.
He is there in your weakness to assure that the "smoking flax" is not put out.
And He is there in your allocution (your testimony of Him) to assure that others know you are speaking truth.
Because of Christ, it is GREAT to be LEAST in His kingdom!
