Two men were in the dungeon of the prison.
They were shackled hand and foot, suspended from a wall.

About 20 feet above them was one single, barred window that seemed only a slit in the wall.

One man turned to the other and said, "OK! Here's my PLAN!"

Acts 16:22-25
22 And the multitude rose up together against them: and the magistrates rent off their clothes, and commanded to beat them.
23 And when they had laid many stripes upon them, they cast them into prison, charging the jailor to keep them safely:
24 Who, having received such a charge, thrust them into the inner prison, and made their feet fast in the stocks.
25 And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God: and the prisoners heard them.

Paul and Silas were in the "inner prison" shackled to the floor.
But they had a PLAN!

Everyone faces trauma.
When the difficulties of life imprison us in the dungeons of our souls, let faith echo from the walls with singing and praise to our Lord.

We can always sing of mercy and of judgment!
"I will sing of mercy and judgment: unto thee, O LORD, will I sing." (Ps 101:1)

We have received MERCY!
Whatever we are facing, it is not as severe as it should have been!
Our sins demanded punishment and death.
But our dear Savior has taken our punishment and died FOR us!

We have already received JUDGMENT.
Through the vicarious suffering and death of our Lord, we have received ACQUITTAL from eternal death.
In its place, God has provided eternal life in heaven with Him!

Sailing upon the sea of life, we may experience winds of sorrow and waves of anguish.
But we can sing to The Master Of The Sea, and find "grace to help in time of need."(Heb. 4:16)

Faith answers all trouble with the certainty of hope.
It is not the desire for, but the sure knowledge of heaven that gives the Christian joy in his/her life.

"3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a
lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
4 To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you,
5 Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time."
(1 Peter 1:3-5)

So let us sing and rejoice in mercy and judgment received.
And then let us PRAY!
Then we shall be freed from the difficulties of life.

See what happened when Paul and Silas sang and prayed?

Acts 16:26
And suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken:
and immediately all the doors were opened, and every one's bands were loosed.

Even if Christ does not deliver us FROM the difficulty,
He will be there WITH us, and help us through it!

Love ya!
