Sgt. Roy Benevidez received the Congressional Medal of Honor.

In his speech, he said he remembered what a trainer had taught him,
”Faith, determination, and a positive attitude will carry you a long way.”

Sgt. Benevidez carried 8 men out of a combat zone to an evacuation hospital while he was severely wounded himself.
He was literally being zipped into a body bag, until he spit in the doctor’s face!

One of the lines from his acceptance speech went like this:
“Life has a special flavor for those who have fought for it that others will never know.”

1 Cor 9:24-25
24 Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain.
25 And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible.

As Christians, we are all in the “race of life.”
But to those who “fight for it,” that life has a special flavor!

The ones who “strive for the mastery” are exhibiting the glory of Christ in their lives.
2 Cor 3:18 says, “But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.”

When we surrendered to Christ as Lord, His Spirit entered our lives (Eph. 1:13).
His Spirit is constantly striving to transform us into His likeness.
His Spirit is the Spirit of LIFE which raised Christ from the grave!

Christian, do everything in your power to employ His aid in your living!

Strive for the mastery!

And remember, “life has a special flavor” for those that fight for it!

Love ya!
