DAILY DEVOTIONS

HI!

Two Boxes

I have in my hands two boxes
Which God gave me to hold
He said, "Put all your sorrows in the black,
And all your joys in the gold."
I heeded his words, and in the two boxes
Both my joys and sorrows I store
But though the gold became heavier each day
The black was as light as before
With curiosity, I opened the black I
wanted to find out why
And I saw, in the base of the box, a hole
Which my sorrows had fallen out by
I showed the hole to God, and mused aloud,
"I wonder where my sorrows could be."
He smiled a gentle smile at me. "My child, they're all here
with me." I asked, "God, why give me the boxes,
"Why the gold, and the black with
the hole?" "My child, the gold is for you to count your
blessings, the black is for you to let go."

LIGHT from the WORD.

Sorrow (mourning) comes in many forms:
A lost billfold, a broken arm, a lost loved one, a lost job.

And, we can be "comforted" in all our sorrow because,
as Christians, God's Holy Spirit helps us find comfort in His love.

Keep in mind that the word "blessed" means
blissfully happy!

And, I believe, this verse points to genuine sorrow for SIN!
This sorrow is more than sorrow for committing immoral acts.
This sorrow is more than being exposed for our sin.

This sorrow is for what our sin as caused:
the CRUCIFICTION of our LORD!

When we truly "mourn" for our sin, we REPENT!
We turn to Christ for forgiveness and guidance to live the
right way.

It is THEN we are "comforted" by His loving
forgiveness and continued presence!

The blissful happiness comes from truly repenting and
then finding out that we are "accepted in the Beloved".
(See Eph. 1:6)

We are ALL sinners ALL the time.
So, MOURN and REPENT daily!
THEN, you can live in the blissful happiness of our Lord's
forgiveness and loving presence!

Love ya!
