THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS
Two men were fording a river on horseback.
The river was turbulent, and one rider became quite dizzy looking down at the water.
Suddenly, his companion hit him on the chin!
“LOOK UP!” said the companion.
When he looked up, he regained his balance.
1 Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,
2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.
In cross-country running, there are many twists and turns, and the ground is hardly ever level.
However, the runner must be focused AHEAD; not on the immediate difficulty surrounding him!
All through the Bible, there is but one “Hero” – God!
There is a “great cloud of witnesses” in the Bible who all looked to God.
The “sin which doth so easily beset us” is UNfaith, or lack of focus upon our Lord!
Life indeed has many twists and turns.
Sometimes, it seems, the ground is rocky and all uphill.
But, when our focus is upon Jesus, we are concerned with the GOAL, and not the trouble!
Looking at the turbulence in the world, we sometimes become dizzy.
If we LOOK UP to our Lord, He will help us regain balance!
