THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS

DAILY DEVOTIONS

HI!

Police Lights

You've seen it, and I've seen it.
People who are driving 10 or 15mph above the speed limit
suddenly slow down when they see blue and red lights ahead.

They are “law abiders” when the lights are seen.
They are “law asiders” when the lights aren’t present.

Acts 21:18-20
18 And the day following Paul went in with us unto James; and all the elders were present.
19 And when he had saluted them, he declared particularly what things God had wrought among the Gentiles by his ministry.
20 And when they heard it, they glorified the Lord,
20 ...., and said unto him, Thou seest, brother, how many thousands of Jews there are which believe; and they are all zealous of the law:

Indeed there were "thousands of Jews" who were Christians in Jerusalem!
Acts 2 tells of 3,000 who were saved, and Acts 4 tells of 5,000 more who were saved.
And, those were only two instances...there were many more because "the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved." (Acts 2:47)
And, Acts 5:14 says, "And believers were the more added to the Lord, multitudes both of men and women."

All of these Jewish Christians, James said, were "zealous of the law."
Even though they were Christians, saved FROM the law, they believed it was correct for them to KEEP the law as much as possible.
Christians today might take note here, the law of God may not be imperative to keep, but is important to developing Christian character!

There ARE those who are such strict "law abiders" that they renounce the mercy and grace of God.
There are also those who are "law asiders."
They cast the law of God aside, and make Christianity a mockery, having no character.

Somewhere in between there are those who are "zealous of the law."
They are those who acknowledge that we are saved only by the mercy and grace of God.
AND, they acknowledge receiving "faith," which is the empowering of God's Holy Spirit to cling to Christ.

The manner in which we "cling" to Christ is by studying the Bible and living by the principals taught therein.

Do not neglect study of the Bible!
Study, learn and put the principals in action through your life.
THAT'S living by faith!

See the "Light" of Christ ahead, and drive your life accordingly.
