To forgive is to set a prisoner free.
And, to realize that prisoner was YOU!
All we like sheep have gone astray;
we have turned every one to his own way;
and the LORD hath laid on Him the iniquity of us all
LIGHT from the WORD.
Allow me to "key in" on one particular word here: "All!"
Not a single person can claim to have lived without sin!
In this verse we find a deeper meaning of the word "sin."
The verse plainly says that we have all "turned every one
to his own way."
That in itself is the real basis of sin.
God created us for Himself.
For us to take our lives and use them for self is sin because
it is against our Creator's design.
All other sins stem from this sin of selfishness.
Christ received the just punishment designed for all who reject
God as Creator/Master.
Thus, it is only by SURRENDER to Christ as LORD of our lives
that we can be placed back in a right relationship with God.
THEN, then we learn:
To grudge is selfish; and
To forgive is godly!
