DAILY DEVOTIONS

HI!

He knew time was about up for him, so he went
to his lawyer’s office to draw up a will.

He told the lawyer, “I need to draw up a will,
but I don’t know how.”

The lawyer said, “That’s ok. Just leave it to me.”

He said, “Well, I know you’ll get a big slice;
but I want to leave some for my children!”

SCRIPTURE______________________________

2 Cor 12:14
Behold, the third time I am ready to come to you;
and I will not be burdensome to you:
for I seek not yours, but you:
for the children ought not to lay up for the parents,
but the parents for the children.

LIGHT from the WORD.

Paul was on his way back to the church at Corinth.
He wrote to them that he was not coming for any pay.
He was coming to provide for them.
His trip would provide education for the believers.

Paul wrote a principle in the above verse.
That principle says that the parents ought to "lay up"
(provide inheritance) for the children.

All of us can leave good things for our children.
I thank the Lord that my earthly parents left:
character, dependability, a hard work ethic, integrity, honesty,
kindness, self-discipline, respect for others,
and many other wonderful things.

But most of all, I thank the Lord, that my earthly parents left
me a genuine respect for the Word of God, and for the
God of the Bible Who is revealed in the Person of Jesus Christ.

The latter two "inheritance" factors (respect for the Bible and
for Jesus) have been what made America great.
Had not our forefathers left those two,
we would not have had the other characteristics!

Will we leave behind an inheritance of faithfulness to God
and His Word?

Love ya!
