THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS
One can learn some valuable lessons dealing with animals.
One lady worked for Christian veterinarian.
She was going to have surgery the following week, and voiced her concern to the veterinarian.
He said, "Oh. Just turn your worries into prayers. Get plenty of rest, and don't lick your incision."
And Peter remembered the word of Jesus, which said unto him, Before the cock crow, thou shalt deny me thrice.
And he went out, and wept bitterly.
All four gospels record this incident (Matthew 26:34 & 75, Mark 14:30 & 72, Luke 22:34 & 61, and John 13:38).
It is there for a reason: to teach us the inexhaustible love of our Savior.
One can learn a lot from the animals of the Bible.
The tempting snake.
When Eve's focus turned from God's Word to self, sin entered!
Adam joined her in the sin, and when God came to talk in the evening, they were afraid!
And they tried to HIDE from God!
LESSON: sin SEPARATES us from God.
The talking donkey.
Balaam asked God about going on this peculiar mission and God said, "NO!"
But when he was offered money, Balaam went.
When his donkey fell, Balaam cursed him.
But the donkey SPOKE!
LESSON: Greed will cause you to lose your FOCUS on God.
The transporting whale.
Jonah was prejudiced, and didn't want to go to Nineveh.
So he tried running away from God's calling.
God WANTS us to go and share Jesus with others.
That is our "commission" from Him.
LESSON: Obedience brings blessings, DISobedience brings problems!
The tattletale rooster.
In our text above, the rooster's crow reminded Peter of his sin.
What an AWFUL sound the rooster must have had for Peter the rest of his life!
But Peter realized that even though Jesus KNEW he would sin, Jesus STILL went to the cross for him!
Because Peter had genuinely yielded his life to Christ.
LESSON: if we have surrendered to Christ, He will forgive and put us in a right relationship with Him upon our repentance.
Let us remember the lessons from Biblical animals.
Let us remember that God is a SECOND CHANCE God!
