THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS
I didn't know the Gift was for me,
until He opened it, and set it before my heart.
38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ
for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
39 For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.
In yesterday's devotion, I spoke about THE PERFECT GIFT - JESUS.
He is the perfect Gift, Whom when we receive, has so much MORE to offer.
How do we receive His perfect Gift?
First, the gift has always been there, but we didn't know until it was revealed by His CALL.
He calls to us telling us that we can be forgiven of sin, and receive our Lord as Savior.
Second, the CALL includes CONVICTION.
Yes, I AM a sinner. (Romans 3:23)
And, I NEED a Savior! (Romans 6:23)
Third, the CALL includes CONVINCING.
Yes, Jesus IS the Lord of glory. (Isaiah 7:14, Isaiah 43:11, Hosea 13:4)
He is the Creator (John 1:1-3), the Savior (Luke 2:11), and the Eternal Judge (2Corinthians 5:10).
But fourth, the CALL must include personal COMMITMENT.
Jesus IS the Gift.
Without surrender to Him as Lord of one's life, the Gift cannot be received. (Luke 9:23, Matthew 12:30)
In our text above, Peter says: REPENT (turn around to Christ), be baptized (exhibit commitment) and,
"ye SHALL RECEIVE the gift of the Holy Ghost."
Receiving Christ, one receives His personal presence! (Ephesians 1:13)
The CALL has been made.
CONVICTION lies upon the hearts of men when the Gospel is heard.
CONVINCING lies in the multitude of Scripture.
But COMMITMENT must come from the heart (spirit of man, where decisions are made).
Have you HEARD?
Have you RECEIVED?
SHARE the GIFT that keeps giving MORE!
