THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS
As we get older, we have to figure out ways to stay trim and fit.
I heard a man say the other day, he was doing something different to keep himself from eating too much.
He said he put the TV on the opposite end of the house from the refrigerator.
29 He that is slow to wrath is of great understanding: but he that is hasty of spirit exalteth folly.
30 A sound heart is the life of the flesh: but envy the rottenness of the bones.
Have ya cleaned out your refrigerator lately?
Man! Those little plastic containers can hold some SURPRISES!
When ya start cleaning them out, it makes ya wish you'd cleaned your plate the first time!
I found a few the other day that were really bad.
Some chicken that looked like it was growing new feathers.
A little container filled with green slime that used to be salad.
Some spaghetti in one container looked like it had grown some new meatballs.
If ya wanna make room for "new" stuff, ya gotta clean out the old!
Our spiritual lives are sometimes filled with those old "refrigerated items."
A "hasty spirit" is one of those.
So is "envy."
We might also find some contaminated containers of jealousy, anger, bitterness, pride, and unforgiveness.
Let's not miss out on storing up joy, hope, happiness, peace, kindness, tenderness, meekness, courage.
Our Lord wants to give us "new stuff"!
But we must make some ROOM in our hearts.
Let's take that "old stuff" to God in prayer and ask Him to get rid of it for us.
