One of the things depreciating the moral nature of our
country today is the lack of, indeed even the disdain of

Matt 26:38-41
38 Then saith he unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful,
even unto death: tarry ye here, and watch with me.
39 And he went a little further, and fell on his face, and prayed,
saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me:
nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt.
40 And he cometh unto the disciples, and findeth them asleep,
and saith unto Peter, What, could ye not watch with me one hour?
41 Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation:
the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.

LIGHT from the WORD.

When Jesus knew He was facing the cross, His FIRST priority was
It was prayer that gave Him strength, courage and fortitude to face
offering His sinless life for our sinful lives!

He did not take a public podium and call for knife and sword control.
Because He knew it was not the OBJECT, but the PERSON who
created havoc!

When the Constitutional Convention of 1787 met difficulty because of
different opinions, and progress seemed to halt, Benjamin Franklin
rose to make a short speech.
In that speech, he made these statements:
All of us who were engaged in the struggle must have observed
frequent instances of a Superintending providence in our favor.
To that kind providence we owe this happy opportunity of consulting
in peace on the means of establishing our future national felicity.
And have we now forgotten that powerful friend?
I have lived, Sir, a long time, and the longer I live, the more convincing
proofs I see of this truth- that God governs in the affairs of men.
And if a sparrow cannot fall to the ground without his notice,
is it probable that an empire can rise without his aid?
We have been assured, Sir, in the sacred writings, that
“except the Lord build the House they labour in vain that build it.”

Yet, in today's world, when some officials mention prayer as a
solace for tragedy; some others speak with condescension!

May I say that genuine prayer BEGINS with humility!
We humble ourselves before the Almighty God, and then we
seek His divine favor.

To those who believe, and espouse that there is no higher authority
than government, let me repeat with Benjamin Franklin:
"God GOVERNS in the affairs of men!"

My prayer for today follows.
And, I hope you will join me with the same.

"Oh, Holy God, I come before you trusting in Jesus Christ for the
forgiveness of my sin, and pleading for Your help in our government
Please permeate our Congress, Judiciary and Executive branches
with Your Holy Spirit, and bring them to contrition for the sins they
commit against our citizens!
Then, Oh Lord, may You turn this nation again to the good and right
by the mighty means of PRAYER!"

Love ya!
