When I was a 12-year-old, my Uncle Fred let me work with him.
He was a painter.

After we painted a house with oil-based paint, he showed me how to clean the brushes.
He would put some gas in a small can, and we would wash the brushes out.
Then, more “clean” gas in another can, and wash the brushes again.

Then, we’d place the brushes in an old t-shirt, or hand towel.

The next day, the brushes were dry and ready to use again.
Any excess fluids had dissolved into the old t-shirt or hand towel.

John 14:23
Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words:
and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.

When genuine repentance and surrender to Jesus occurs, the Person of God enters the soul.
He makes His place of “abode” inside our soul.
He actually takes up residence there!

As a result, CHANGES take place!
The changes take place because there is a new spiritual birth.
2 Cor 5:17 says, “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away;
behold, all things are become new.”

Then, we begin to have perpetual communion with God!
A very wide avenue of constant contact with God is opened.
And, “living waters” begin to flow THROUGH us!
John 7:38
He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.

Through this perpetual communion, our lives take on different properties.
We begin to exhibit the changes!
Prayer becomes an attitude.
Bible study becomes an imperative.
Church attendance becomes a standard.
Our conversations constantly turn toward Christ.

Those changes take place because we “love” Christ, and desire to “keep” His “words.”
At our surrender, He became “Master,” and we became “servant.”

Are you making use of that wide avenue of constant contact with Christ?

Like the paint brushes above, are you daily cleansed, and ready for our Master’s use?

Love ya!
