THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS

DAILY DEVOTIONS

HI!

TUESDAY
On Tuesday of Passover Week, while Jesus was teaching,
some of the Pharisees and Sadducees attended, trying to find
something with which they could charge Him lawfully.

Matt 22:29-32
29 Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the
scriptures, nor the power of God.
30 For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage,
but are as the angels of God in heaven.
31 But as touching the resurrection of the dead, have ye not read that
which was spoken unto you by God, saying,
32 I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob?
God is not the God of the dead, but of the living.

Light from the Word.

While Jesus was teaching, some members of the Sadducees came.
(They didn't believe in a final resurrection.)
They asked him about the law of Levirate marriage.
( Deuteronomy 25:5-10)

They gave Him an hypothetical scenario.
A man who was married died.
His brother (next oldest) took the wife to bear children to the first, but he died.
Then, the next 5 also married her, but they all died.
Now, "in the resurrection whose wife shall she be of the seven?" (Matt 22:28)

Notice Jesus' FIRST statement:
"Ye do ERR, not knowing the Scriptures, nor the power of God!"

They did not believe God could come into the world as a man.
They did not believe God would resurrect all men and have a final judgment.
They did not believe Jesus was the fulfillment of the prophecies concerning Messiah.

So they didnít believe Godís WORD, nor did they believe Godís POWER!
Therefore, they were not surrendered to God's will and way!
And, God's Holy Spirit did not explain to them the real truths of the Scriptures. (John 14:26)

In this world today, MANY are like the Sadducees!

Surrender to Christ!
ONLY then can one can see the truths of the Scriptures!

There are NO MARRIAGES in heaven!
We'll ALL be "children of God" married to Christ!

Love ya!
