THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS
When our son was born, my wife tried to teach me how to diaper him.
It was difficult for me to learn.
But my Dad explained it in terms I could understand.
He said, "Think of the diaper as a baseball diamond, you're at bat. Put the diaper in position like the infield diamond. Fold second base down to home plate and set the baby's behind on the pitcher's mound. Then, fold home plate up to the pitcher's mound; 3rd base over to the same place, and 1st base over to the same place. Pin, and you're done. When it rains, ya gotta start over again!"
7 For none of us liveth to himself, and no man dieth to himself.
8 For whether we live, we live unto the Lord; and whether we die, we die unto the Lord: whether we live therefore, or die, we are the Lord's.
9 For to this end Christ both died, and rose, and revived, that he might be Lord both of the dead and living.
When we are saved, God could have taken us directly from this life to our new eternal life.
Having been given the righteousness of Christ, He has made us able to live with Him.
He could have changed our mortality to immortality immediately.
He could have changed our corruptibility to incorruptibility immediately.
So WHY are we still here?
To "live unto the Lord!"
And God uses examples in the Bible to teach us how to "live unto the Lord."
We are to be "salt" and give the taste of Christ to an unseasoned world. (Matt 5:13)
We are to be "light" and penetrate the darkness of sin with Truth. (Matt 5:14-16)
We are to be planters and cultivators of the "seed" of the Gospel. (1Cor 3:6-9)
We are to be speakers in the "ministry of reconciliation." (2Cor 5:18-19)
That puts a good perspective on our purpose!
God is always merciful, gracious, loving and kind.
He would never keep us here one moment longer than necessary.
God's PURPOSE for our living here is that we have purpose IN our living.
JESUS is our purpose!
Let us learn to "LIVE unto the Lord!"
