THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS
I used to think I had a “handle” on life;
but, I guess – it BROKE!
14 Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same;
that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;
15 And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.
If a person thinks long about it, death (apart from knowing Christ) can become formidable.
Some people allow a “fear of death” to enslave them.
That fear will cause some folk to do weird things; like participate in cryonics (freezing the body for preservation).
They don’t realize that freezing the body causes irreparable damage.
However Jesus, has delivered His “children” from God's curse against our sin.
Through His forgiveness, and promise of eternal life, Jesus has taken from death all that makes it formidable.
For the Christian, the devil’s power to cause fear of death has been DESTROYED!
Jesus said, “...I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:
26 And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die.” (John 11:25-26)
The Christian has no need to fear death.
Death is only a door through which we exit this physical life and move into the eternal presence of our Lord.
Christians do die physically.
However, though the body certainly dies, the “person” (“spirit”) goes immediately to Christ’s eternal care!
Solomon said it very poetically,
6 Or ever the silver cord be loosed, or the golden bowl be broken, or the pitcher be broken at the fountain, or the wheel broken at the cistern.
7 Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it.
PRAISE GOD that “...the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death!!”
One of these days, the Christian’s body may fall away.
But, through faith in Christ, the “person” NEVER DIES!
