THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS
A well-to-do man invited several people in his company over to dinner.
After dinner, he asked that they all join him in the den.
The den was filled with almost every type of musical instruments!
The host asked that everyone take the instrument of their choice, and that they play music together.
Everyone picked up an instrument except Bill.
The host asked, "What type of instrument do you play Bill?"
Bill said, "Oh, I don't play an instrument. I'm away from home."
The host asked, "What type instrument do you play at home?"
Bill said, "Second fiddle!"
17 And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.
18 And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.
Before anything was created, Jesus existed. (John 1:1-2)
By Him, all things were created. (John 1:3)
And, by Him, all things in this universe "consist," or are sustained. (Heb. 1:3)
Jesus is the "head of the body, the church:..." (See also Eph. 1:22)
Everything done in and through the church is at His direction and for His glory.
Jesus is the "beginning, the firstborn from the dead;..."
This does not necessarily mean He is the first risen from the dead;
But, it is BY Him that all are raised.
"..That in all things He might have the preeminence."
He has the preeminence in: the universe, the world, the church, the living and dead.
Does He have the preeminence in your life?
To Him, do you play "second fiddle?"
Is He first, and above all other things in your life?
