When my husband, James Rowles, was in the seminary,
he was invited to preach at a small rural church.

However, the man who was to introduce him to the
congregation had trouble pronouncing his name.
So James ?offered this verbal clue:
“Remember rolls, like hot buttered rolls.”

It worked.
When it came time ?for the introduction,
the man announced,
“We are pleased to have with us the Reverend
James Biscuits.”

Isa 7:14
Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign;
Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son,
and shall call his name Immanuel.

Isa 12:2
Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and not be afraid:
for the LORD JEHOVAH is my strength and my song;
he also is become my salvation.

Matt 1:23
Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth
a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel,
which being interpreted is, God with us.

LIGHT from the WORD.

To me, one of the most important realizations I had as a
teenager was finding that the Jesus of the New Testament
is the same as the LORD JEHOVAH of the Old Testament.

This understanding put Bible study in a new light for me.
Because, it made me realize that studying the Bible is
all about studying the principle character: GOD!

The word "Emmanuel" is derived from the Hebrew
`Immanuw'el, which means: with us is God.
It is also derived from the Greek Emmanouel
which means: God is with us.

Jesus is:
the One Who walked in the Garden of Eden with Adam & Eve;
the One Who called Noah to build the ark;
the One Who gave Moses the Ten Commandments;
The One Who told Isaiah, "...beside Me there is no Savior."
(See Is. 43:11)

The REASON is because Jesus is ETERNAL!
He has ALWAYS been the "WORD" of God;
the Divine expression of God. (See John 1:1)

"And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us,!"
(John 1:14)

When you're studying the Bible, remember the Principal
Character is GOD!

Love ya!
