As dirty little children we come to Christ.
His Holy Spirit scrubs our hearts like Mom
used to scrub our dirty fingers.
He works to present us as purity in contrast
to the world.
1 John 3:1-3
1 Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us,
that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world
knoweth us not, because it knew him not.
2 Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet
appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall
appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.
3 And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself,
even as he is pure.
LIGHT from the WORD.
Christians: in today's world, the purity of Christ IN us must
be in contrast with the evils of the world AROUND us!
Each person who is called to salvation through Jesus is
also called to purity.
That means 3 things should happen in our lives.
First, we must COOPERATE with Him in order to be
changed into His likeness.
Second, we ourselves must be CONSECRATED.
We are to dedicate our lives to living for Christ's purposes.
Consecration doesn't mean "giving up this and that."
It means allowing God's power to work in us and through us.
Third, we are to be in CONTRAST with the world.
It is our duty to grow in our relationship with Christ.
And as we grow, we are to develop mannerisms which
clearly expose the fallacy of sin in a loving way.
Because we live for Jesus, we will be a little
out of step with the rest of the world.
And though we may live in CONTRAST with the world,
we can do it in a LOVING manner.
