THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS

DAILY DEVOTIONS

HI!

Edward Everett Hale was once chaplain for the US Senate.
Someone asked him, "Dr. Hale, what do you pray for the senators?"

P Dr. Hale answered, "I don't. I look at the senators and pray
for the COUNTRY!"

Acts 4:31-33
31 And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where
they were assembled together; and they were all filled with
the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness.
32 And the multitude of them that believed were of one heart
and of one soul: neither said any of them that ought of the
things which he possessed was his own; but they had all
things common.
33 And with great power gave the apostles witness of the
resurrection of the Lord Jesus: and great grace was upon
them all.

Light from the Word.

Peter and John had been severely chastised for healing a lame
man in the "Name" of Jesus.
They came back, together with other disciples, and prayed.

Then the Bible says, "WHEN they prayed..."
"the ground SHOOK!"
They were "filled with the Holy Ghost!"
They "spake the word of God with BOLDNESS!"
They were UNIFIED, "of one heart and of one soul."
They were UNSELFISH!
And, they were EMPOWERED to give witness of
"the resurrection of the Lord Jesus!"

All this happened because "great grace was upon them all!"

Prayer is a very important part of our individual lives.
Without it, we are lacking in the personal relationship we should
have with our Lord.

Prayer is very important as a part of our corporate Christian lives.
Without it, we do not grow in love an unity.

In order for us to fulfill the purposes God has planned for us as a
church, we need Him to pour out "great grace" upon us and guide
us in unity and purpose.
Prayer is the unifying factor that draws us closer to God, closer to
one another, and allows Him to pour out that grace we so
desperately need.

Letís pray TOGETHER, and ask God to again SHAKE the ground,
giving us BOLDNESS to witness for Jesus!

Love ya!
