THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS

DAILY DEVOTIONS

HI!

Dispatcher: "9-1-1 What's the nature of your emergency?"
Caller: "My wife is pregnant and her contractions are only two minutes apart!!"
Dispatcher: "Is this her first child?"
Caller: "No, of course not! This is her HUSBAND!"

2 Tim 1:9-11
9 Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began,
10 But is now made manifest by the appearing of our Saviour Jesus Christ, who hath abolished death, and hath brought life and immortality to light through the gospel:
11 Whereunto I am appointed a preacher, and an apostle, and a teacher of the Gentiles.

Sometimes, when we become excited about things, what we HEAR doesn't fully register.
And, of course, sometimes we don't exactly SAY what we should.
Kinda like the little mix-up between the 911 operator and the caller above.

He was a little excited and didn't realize the operator was asking if his wife was giving birth to a second child.
Of course, in her haste, the operator didn't exactly word it correctly.

Sometimes we become overly excited about things happening to us, and we don't REMEMBER what God has taught us in His Word.

Notice Paul tells Timothy (vs 9 above) God "HATH saved us!"
It is not only a hope of a future existence.
It is a realization of what has ALREADY happened!

God's PURPOSE in creation of this universe was to GIVE us eternal salvation through Christ Jesus!
That purpose was fully realized when God in flesh died on a cross to pay the penalty of our sin and purchase eternal forgiveness for our souls!

Christian you ARE saved!
AND, you are "called with a HOLY calling!"
You weren't called because YOU were good.
You were called because GOD is good!!

When you surrendered to Christ:
you were washed in His blood, cleansing all sin;
you were sealed in His Spirit, securing eternal glory by His grace;
and, your name is written in the Lamb's "Book of Life!"

Don't allow the world's difficulties to confuse you and make you forget who you are TODAY!

Celebrate your salvation today!!
Praise God for His grace!
And, TELL somebody what Jesus "HATH" already done for you!

Love ya,
Bruce
