On the last day of 2019, I make two resolutions for 2020:
1) I will shave at least 3 times each week,
2) And, I will keep the former resolution at least one week.

Gal 3:27
For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.

Rom 6:4
Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death:
that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father,
even so we also should walk in newness of life.

Rom 13:14
But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh,
to fulfil the lusts thereof.

LIGHT from the WORD.

Many people make new year's resolution mentally, emotionally.
Most of them fail because they are not made with
spiritual fortification.

Allow me to share, in order, about the three Scriptures above.

Grammatically, the verb usage in the first Scripture above (Gal. 3:27)
is different.
The subject is physical baptism.
The manner of that verb usage dictates that one must have
“put on Christ” before having “been baptized into Christ.”

Now, the subject of the second Scripture above (Rom. 6:4)
is spiritual baptism.
When we surrender to Christ, the first gift we receive is His Holy Spirit.
We submit to burying our old self IN Christ, and
are “raised” to a NEW life of living FOR Christ.
This is a work done BY God’s Holy Spirit IN a surrendered believer
of Christ.

Now, the subject of the third Scripture (Rom. 13:14) is RESOLVE,
NOT a resolution.
“Put YE on the Lord Jesus Christ,” exhibits continued
determination day by day!
The saved person determines to ACT upon the spiritual desires of Christ.
This determination is provided by God's Holy Spirit WORKING
in the saved person.
AND, that determination is accented by the Christian WORKING
WITH God's Spirit to achieve HIS desires!

I said all that to say 2 things.
FIRST, a resolution SHOULD indicate resolve to do something.
SECOND, each Christian SHOULD resolve to EXHIBIT more of
Christ IN and THROUGH them!

What is your FIRST resolution for 2020?
I pray it is to show more of Christ IN and THROUGH you!

Love ya!
