THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS

DAILY DEVOTIONS

HI!

A young engineer who was fresh out of MIT, was reaching the end of a job interview.
The Human Resources Person asked , "What starting salary were you thinking about?"

The young MIT grad said, "In the neighborhood of $125,000 a year, depending on the benefits package."

The interviewer said, "Well, what would you say to a package of 5 weeks vacation, 14 paid holidays, full medical and dental, company matching retirement fund to 50% of salary, and a company car leased every 2 years - say, a red Corvette?"

The MIT grad sat up straight and said, "Wow! Are you kidding?"

The interviewer replied, "Yeah, but you started it."

THOUGHT____________________________________

Just last week (4-20-2013), I wrote a devotion named: PRAISE GOD I WILL NEVER DIE.
The FOCUS of that devotion was on the "spirit" (person inside of you) and not the "body" (your temporary tent ((2Cor 5:1))).

Tuesday evening (4-23-2013) I went to hear my good friend, Lyndon Longoria, preaching revival at Crossroads Baptist.
His sermon reminded me of this "appointment" we ALL have.
"And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:" (Heb. 9:27)

That sermon made me RETHINK the scenario.
I never want to give someone a "feel-good-feeling" that detours them from the REALITY of life (and death).

Death is very real.
No person can "deliver his soul" (body) from the "grave."
None of us shall escape that inevitable event unless Jesus comes first.
Even then, only the genuinely saved will escape death.

Still, giving consideration to this fact, the Christian should not FEAR death!
The "spirit" (person inside of your temporary tent ((Ecc. 12:6-7))) is ETERNALLY SAVED through surrender to Christ!!
IMMEDIATELY upon physical death, the PERSON ("spirit") of the Christian goes to be with the Lord.

There's MORE!
Upon Christ's return to this earth, the spirit of those who have died "in Christ" shall be REJOINED with their earthly bodies!
God's Holy Spirit, Who "raised up the Lord Jesus," shall resurrect those bodies and make them ETERNALLY whole!

One of these days, the Christian’s body may fall away, meeting that "appointment" with death.
But, through faith in Christ, the “person” NEVER DIES!
For the Christian, "to be ABSENT from the body" is to be "PRESENT with the Lord!" (2Cor. 5:8)

AND, one day, Christ will cause the "person" to be REJOINED with the "body" to live eternally in His presence!

Death is not to be feared, though certainly respected.
The "door" of death opens to eternity.
For those who have surrendered to Christ, that "door" opens to eternal LIFE.
For those who have NOT surrendered to Christ, that "door" opens to eternal DEATH.

When your physical eyes close in death, where will you be looking with your spiritual eyes?

Love ya!
Bruce
