THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS
“The Bible calls us to be in unity. The issue is not skin, but it’s sin.
....Come together. Stand up and be the people of God.”
(Spoken by K.Marshall Williams, pastor of Nazarene Baptist Church,
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania at the Southern Baptist Convention, 2015)
Who will rise up for me against the evildoers?
or who will stand up for me against the workers of iniquity?
The Bible describes the church as people coming together
in spite of their differences and because of their faith in Christ.
Now there were in the church that was at Antioch certain prophets
and teachers; as Barnabas, and Simeon that was called Niger,
and Lucius of Cyrene, and Manaen, which had been brought up
with Herod the tetrarch, and Saul.
Barnabas was a Hebrew preacher of the Gospel.
Simeon was called “Niger,” a Latin name for black.
Lucius of Cyrene was from Africa.
Manaen was the foster brother of Herod.
Saul was an apostle.
No matter their color, nor their social ranking, they were called
“prophets and teachers” because of their faith in Jesus Christ!
They were men who loved Jesus and “ministered to the Lord.”
This sets the tone for the church:
Remember, God interrupted Peter’s prayer time because he had
prejudice in his life. (See Acts 10:9-21)
Rise above self!
Do all for Christ!
