THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS
As an avid golfer, I was taking part in a local tournament.
As I was preparing to tee off, the organizer of the tournament approached me and pointed to the dark, threatening storm clouds which were gathering.
"Preacher," the organizer said, "I trust you'll see to it that the weather won't turn bad on us."
I just smiled, shook my head, and said, "Sorry, I'm in sales, not management!"
Nevertheless, whereto we have already attained, let us walk by the same rule, let us mind the same thing.
As Christians, what is it that we have attained?
Keep in mind that attained implies earned, come to a specific point, or have arrived.
We have certainly not attained salvation.
We have done nothing worthy of His love, mercy and grace.
Salvation is not earned, it is a gift.
No, we did not attain salvation.
We received it on our knees, under great horror of conviction, and pleading for mercy by the blood of our Lord, Jesus Christ.
We arrived there by conviction of sin and our need for a Savior.
We were compelled to commit ourselves to Christ as Lord of our lives.
As Christians, we have "arrived" at a point where we have surrendered ourselves to Christ, and have made Him our all in all.
THIS is the specific point to which we have come.
If this is the point to which we have attained, then let us walk in that same rule.
Let us “mind the same thing” - to keep Christ as LORD of who we are.
To walk in that manner means to live and act as if He is indeed Lord of who we are.
He is our Master, we are His servants.
He is our King, we are His ambassadors.
He is our Lord, we are His subjects.
He is our Rule, and we are constantly striving to live up to His measure.
We do not even attain to being a good Christian!
We simply continue surrendering ourselves to His Lordship, and He causes our growth.
Today, let us keep our minds on one simple rule:
We're in SALES not MANAGEMENT!
