DAILY DEVOTION

HI!

Most people have never had to draw water from a well,
and carry it to the house.

I can remember pulling on that rope, then filling a
bucket with water.

And, I can remember struggling to take that bucket
into the house.

Now imagine a woman carrying a stone water
vessel with water in it.

SCRIPTURE______________________________

John 4:4-10
4 And he must needs go through Samaria.
5 Then cometh he to a city of Samaria, which is called Sychar,
near to the parcel of ground that Jacob gave to his son Joseph.
6 Now Jacob's well was there. Jesus therefore, being wearied
with his journey, sat thus on the well: and it was about the sixth hour.
7 There cometh a woman of Samaria to draw water: Jesus saith
unto her, Give me to drink.
8(For his disciples were gone away unto the city to buy meat.)
9 Then saith the woman of Samaria unto him, How is it that thou,
being a Jew, askest drink of me, which am a woman of Samaria?
for the Jews have no dealings with the Samaritans.
10 Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift
of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou
wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee
living water.

THOUGHT________________________________

LIGHT from the WORD.

Jesus was Jewish, the woman was a Samaritan.
It was unheard of for a Jewish Rabbi to speak to a
Samaritan, let alone a woman!
There was a great amount of discrimination between them.

The Scripture says Jesus NEEDED to go through Samaria.
WHY?
Read the full passage, John 4:4-30, and you'll see.

This woman needed the LIVING WATER that
ONLY Jesus can give!
She needed salvation by grace through faith, and the
entrance of God's Holy Spirit into her soul!

In John 4:14, Jesus said to her:
"But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give
him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him
shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life."

If you read the whole passage, you'll see the woman
RECEIVED what Jesus offered.
THEN, she SHARED it with people in the town!
John 4:28-30
28 The woman then left her waterpot, and went her way
into the city, and saith to the men,
29 Come, see a man, which told me all things that ever I did:
is not this the Christ?
30 Then they went out of the city, and came unto him.

And, MANY of the people in the town came to Jesus!!

The experience of knowing Jesus as Lord and Savior
brings EXCITEMENT to the soul!
That excitement causes one to SHARE with others!

Christian, what are you DOING with that which Jesus
has GIVEN to you?

SHARE the LIVING WATER!

Love ya!
