THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS
Once, when I was pastor, the wife of the Chairman of Deacons called me.
She said, “Bro. Bruce, we would like for you to bring a short devotion at
the Deacons Fellowship Supper. You know, just a brief word.”
I answered, “So, what you’re saying is ‘be sure and don’t preach a sermon.’”
She answered, “OH! I would NEVER tell you that! But, you know,
just a brief word.”
10 So Joshua did as Moses had said to him, and fought with Amalek: and Moses, Aaron, and Hur went up to the top of the hill.
11 And it came to pass, when Moses held up his hand, that Israel prevailed: and when he let down his hand, Amalek prevailed.
12 But Moses' hands were heavy; and they took a stone, and put it under him, and he sat thereon; and Aaron and Hur stayed up his hands, the one on the one side, and the other on the other side; and his hands were steady until the going down of the sun.
13 And Joshua discomfited Amalek and his people with the edge of the sword.
In church, some people:
just sit picking their nose,
some get their nose pierced,
and some are just downright “nosey!”
However, the church should be built around loving cooperation.
In the Scripture above, everyone was cooperating to defeat the enemy.
In church, we are to cooperate to defeat our biggest enemy: the ole devil.
The main purpose of church is to:
evangelize the lost, educate the saved, and minister to the needy.
So, how about we all “nose around” and find a place of service?
