THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS
Grandma was asking her daughter how she was dealing with her new baby son.
She said, "Oh. I guess I'm doing ok. I just work from son-up to son-down!"
For the Son of man is come to save that which was lost.
I don't know about you, but I'm glad the Son of God came down!
And I'm glad the Son of man rose up!
And I'll be glad to see the Son of God coming again!
Did you know that the title "Son of man" was Jesus' favorite name by which He referred to Himself?
He could have used several titles that were written of Him in the Old Testament: Messiah, Son of God, Wonderful Counsellor, Almighty God, Prince of Peace, or Everlasting Father.
But Jesus' favorite designation of Himself was "Son of man."
He was a man of humility!
He humbled Himself totally to God's will - even to the death of the cross.
He didn't care for great titles, and neither should we.
Let us take this lesson from our Master, and be humble in nature.
He was pleased to come and be joined with mankind.
In doing so, He elevated the human race!
By referring to Himself as the "Son of man," Jesus spread a glowing light above the crown of every human head.
The Son of God became the "Son of man" by CHOICE!
But more than those, Jesus used the title "Son of man" to reflect identification with His people.
He became a part of those whom He created.
And those who sinned against Him, He died to save!
With those who suffer, He came to suffer.
He experienced grief and sorrow more than any man.
And therefore, He can comfort and help us!
He was humble enough to choose a lesser title.
He was gracious enough to glorify our humanity.
And He is loving enough to comfort us in any trouble.
OH! WHAT A SAVIOR!!
Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:
