Today's Devotion:
"SPECIFICS of CHRISTMAS 3"
Besides, Gen. 3:15, the virgin birth is
announced as a SIGN to king Ahaz
by Isaiah.
_______SCRIPTURE____________
Is 7:10-14
10 Moreover the LORD spake again unto
Ahaz, saying,
11 Ask thee a sign of the LORD thy God;
ask it either in the depth, or in the height above.
12 But Ahaz said, I will not ask, neither will I
tempt the LORD.
13 And he said, Hear ye now, O house of David;
Is it a small thing for you to weary men, but will
ye weary my God also?
14 Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a
sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a
son, and shall call his name Immanuel.
KJV
_______THOUGHT______________
God gave this as another word to Isaiah for
king Ahaz.
God and Isaiah both knew that king Ahaz
planned to make an aliance with Assyria.
(See 2Chron. 16:28)
Therefore, God added a new prophecy.
This prophecy was for Ahaz, but it was also
for the FUTURE.
The prophecy was that a virgin would
conceive and bear a son.
That son would not be old enough to know
right from wrong, on his own, before Syria
and Israel would BOTH be DESTROYED!
(See Is. 7:15)
Isaiah married a virgin (Is. 8:1-4).
She gave birth to the son named
"Mahershalalhashbaz," which means "hasten
spoil."
This child was not yet 12 years old when
Israel and Syria were destroyed!
But, the prophecy also had a FUTURE reference.
That reference is to MESSIAH.
A "virgin" - Mary - conceived miraculously by
God's intervention.
She named Him JESUS according to the
command God had given her.
Jesus, in the Hebrew is Yeshua.
It means SALVATION!!
"Salvation is of the LORD!" (Jonah 2:9)
That is ANOTHER SPECIFICE prophecy from
the Old Testament about the coming LORD!
Love ya!
