THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS
Concerning Christianity, it’s now how much one shouts or how high one jumps that counts.
It’s how straight one WALKS that counts!
1 I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called,
2 With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love;
3 Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.
Paul says we are to walk “worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called....”
“Worthy” is translated from the Greek axios, which means to weigh the same as, or
after a godly manner.
The character with which we are to live our lives, is:
1) with “lowliness” – humility,
2) with “meekness” – self-discipline,
3) with “longsuffering” – having patience,
4) “forbearing one another in love” – caring for, helping, encouraging others.
And, we are to make this walk “endeavouring,” or straining with every nerve!
We are each different, with different gifts.
We are “members in particular” (1Cor 12:27).
And, together, we make up “the body of Christ” (1Cor 12:27)!
Our individuality is given by God’s Holy Spirit.
And, our corporate “unity” is ALSO given by God’s Holy Spirit!
Let each individual Christian be straining with every nerve to
”keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace!”
